The Ultra Music Festival
The Ultra Music Festival was founded to offer the city of Miami a showplace for the best in electronic music. The event now encompasses 3 days with more the 350 DJs, bands and producers and draws over 200,000 fans. Previous bands include Tiesto, Photek, Moby, Rabbit in the Moon, Boys Noize, Annie Mac and Swedish House Mafia. The 2013 line-up included Kraftwerk, David Guetta and Afrojack.

History of the Festival
The festival was started by Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes in 1999. It started out as a 1-day event on South Beach and was well received by attendees. The next year, 2000, the festival returned again and was even more popular with the public. The increase in attendance forced coordinators to relocate the festival in a larger area, so it was moved to Bayfront Park in 2001. The event continued to draw crowds. It was briefly moved to Bicentennial Park in 2006. The festival has become a 3-day event that is now held in Bayfront Park.

Favorite Features
The festival frequently draws celebrities to see their favorite bands, adding to the popularity of the event. Madonna, Paris Hilton and Lil Jon attended past festivals. Food and beverages are offered throughout the festival grounds. Side shows, dancers and performers keep audiences entertained between events. Ultra Festival merchandise is a popular draw for fans, with a variety of tee shirt styles.

Tickets
Fans can purchase single-day tickets or tickets for the entire event. Tickets for Ultra Festival 2014 in March will be available in the fall of 2013.

Transportation
A number of parking lots are available in the area, but parking fees can be expensive. Carpooling or public transportation is recommended. Bayfront Park in Miami's downtown area is easy to get to with the city's public transportation.

Tips For Travel To The Event
Book flights and overnight lodging early because Ultra is a popular event. Wear gym shoes or other comfortable shoes. You will be dancing and walking from event to event. Pack light to the event—sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, money and a towel to sit on is all you'll need. Earplugs are also a good idea.
